SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPRESENTATIVE

The Service Technician Representative ensures excellent service standards and high customer satisfaction are being achieved to our internal and external customers. As a member of the Customer Service team, this position supports the marketing of Ditch Witch® equipment and parts by establishing and maintaining positive business relationships with existing and potential customers. The employee also performs other duties as assigned.

  • Confer with management and departmental team concerning questions, procedures, necessary information, forms completion, and problem resolutions
  • Travel as needed for training or other Company Business.
  • Complete and attend all required in-house/manufacturer training and safety meetings.
  • Meet or exceed expectations for productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on diesel and gasoline powered construction equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines to include Mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Utilize hand tools in the repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Utilize manufacturer electronic diagnostic tools and programs in troubleshooting.
  • Read schematics and technical publications.
  • Perform tasks in shop or at customer’s jobsites.
  • Complete equipment inspection.
  • Install and remove attachments.
  • Wash and clean equipment as needed.
  • Communicate with manufacturers regarding service and warranty issues.
  • Make recommendations regarding repair or replacement of components.
  • Establishes and maintains excellent relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, and coworkers – through positive attitude, professionalism, and proactive communication.
  • Record work performed in detail on service reports, typed and written.
  • Submit detailed inspection forms as required.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Observe all safety procedures and follow all safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean organized shop area and tools to prevent potential hazards.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment to minimize safety risks.
  • Perform other tasks as required.
  • Must have a safe driving history and ability to drive company service truck. CDL license is a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Tech school or OEM training – equivalent experience a plus.

This work is physical and requires the following physical activities:

  • Lifting of up to 75 pounds and willing to use the tools (dolly, forklift, overhead crane, etc..) and/or other team members to lift heavy items.
  • Driving as needed.
  • Bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Workdays of 8 hours a day or more, with overtime on very little notice. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Daily computer use will be common in this role.
  • Independently working on jobs, seeking assistance as needed. Able to adapt to changing job assignment and deadlines.
  • A close environment with other employees. The shop environment includes physical hazards such as powered vehicles, pedestrian traffic, overhead storage and moving machinery.
  • Reports To: Service Manager
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude while working in demanding situations; consistently exhibit a “customer service oriented” manner in dealing with people.
  • Strong electrical hydraulic, mechanical skills, multi meters and test equipment.
  • Demonstrate effective communications skills by telephone, in person and in writing.
  • A good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.
  • Self-motivating, high productivity, ability to learn new skills, and reliable in areas of attendance, attention to quality with a cordial, cooperative personality.
  • Bilingual ability a plus.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Experience in construction equipment technology (minimum 3 years working experience), electronics, hydraulics, diesel and gas engine. Welding and fabrication are a plus.
